I was hoping to draw you in by the title in hopes that I may give you my perspective on this whole controversy inside the church about whether Abraham, Moses, David or Jesus (#geaneology #abraham #moses #david #jesus) were darker skinned when they walked the earth. Please understand I use the term 'darker skinned' because by the design of God, there are a variety of colors.
I have been listening to this 'black & white' (#black #white #blackorwhite) talk amongst the church for the last several years and how the Hebrews were all black and that Jesus and Moses...etc were all black or brown or according to the Catholic Church(#catholicchurch #catholic), Jesus is white with blonde hair and blue eyes. I'll be honest, I never bothered myself with such dialogues or history because, when I gave my life to Jesus in September of 2012 fully and was born again shortly after that, my primary motive in life was to serve the Lord because I underwent a spiritual transformation ( #spiritual #transformation). Since then, I have been led through many ups and downs in both thought and emotion even until just recently.
A few days ago, I listened to some teaching from a person that I must say follow pretty closely on You Tube. She is very prophetically on point (#prophetic), but I must say that her teaching...well, its what compelled me to write this blog. She did mention that we are all in Christ, but the 'reason' for her message was because she believes that people are giving their money to the WRONG seed of Abraham?!?!?
Her topic was the true lineage of Abraham and her premise that Abraham, Moses and Jesus were all black were based on the following:
1. In the Garden, because man was made from the dust which is brown, therefore Adam was brown.
2. The Garden of Eden was located in Ethiopia which is Africa.
3. Moses is darker because when his hand turned leprous, it was white as snow(Exodus 4:6)
4. Jesus was black because in Revelation 1, He is described as follows:
{14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, [glistening white] like snow; and His [all-seeing] eyes were [flashing] like a flame of fire [piercing into my being]. 15 His feet were like burnished [white-hot] bronze, refined in a furnace, and His voice was [powerful] like the sound of many waters. 16 In His right hand He held seven stars, and from His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword [of judgment]; and His face [reflecting His majesty and the[r]Shekinah glory] was like the sun shining in [all] its power [at midday].}
Her inclination to believing that Jesus is black is because of the reference to hair and wool which would indicate a 'nappy' hair type and 'burnished bronze' as a brown skin color. However, the english says white 'like' wool and snow and feet 'like' burnished bronze. As we can see, that the verse is not saying his hair was like wool, but is simply referring to its color. We know Jesus is the Light of the World and 'white light' contains the full spectrum of all the wavelengths of light that can be reflected. Burnished bronze actually has a whiter iridescent glow and is not brown at all - check images ( https://www.instructables.com/id/Making-Aluminum-Bronze-Melting-Copper-and-Aluminum/) So really to me based on this verse of scripture, Jesus is actually has an appearance of WHITE LIGHT and FIRE. I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY RACE OF PEOPLE THAT LOOK LIKE IRIDESCENT WHITE LIGHT AND FIRE !! (#iridescent #whitelight #fire #bronze #glowing)
Still to all of this I have to say, is that there are a multitude of information that do not support this theory and use the bible to do it. (ie. Ur of Chaldeans is in Modern day Iraq and with 2500 yrs of mixing do not necessarily all look the same). There are so many people groups who claim they are the REAL JEWS!
Also, I must note the following scripture to support ethnic mixing and the possibility of Jews being everything from Black to White to Asian in color.
1. In the time of Xerxes after Queen Esther (478 B.C) was victorious of Haman, many people in his kingdom became Jews. (https://www.bible-history.com/maps/maps/map_persian_empire.html) (#esther #xerxes #persianempire)
2. The lineage of Jesus involved originally, non-israeli heritage, like Ruth, who was in fact a Moabite woman. The kingdom of Moab is on a tract of land in today's Jordan and they originated from Lot, the nephew of Abraham. (#moab #jordan #israel #ruth)
So, pretty much in her opinion, she addressed who are the real Jews and who Abraham's natural and biological people are, to which I have to say when God made the promise to Abraham, He said that his descendants would be too numerous to count (like the stars in the sky). (#father #nations) We must also realize that 'Abraham' means 'Father of many Nations', therefore lineage or 'heirs' of Abraham is not according to physical lineage, but through faith and faith alone. Please study Romans 3 and 4, but here is the excerpt to establish what I am saying;
{13 For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through [observing the requirements of] the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.14 If those who are [followers] of the Law are [the true] heirs [of Abraham], then faith [leading to salvation] is of no effect and void, and the promise [of God] is nullified. 15 For the Law results in [God’s] wrath [against sin], but where there is no law, there is no violation [of it either].
16 Therefore, [inheriting] the promise depends entirely on faith [that is, confident trust in the unseen God], in order that it may be given as an act of grace [His unmerited favor and mercy], so that the promise will be [legally] guaranteed to all the descendants [of Abraham]—not only for those [Jewish believers] who keep the Law, but also for those [Gentile believers] who share the faith of Abraham, who is the [spiritual] father of us all— 17 (as it is written [in Scripture], “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the sight of Him in whom he believed, that is, God [c]who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. 18 In hope against hope Abraham believed that he would become a father of many nations, as he had been promised [by God]: “So [numberless] shall your descendants be.” 19 Without becoming weak in faith he considered his own body, now as good as dead [for producing children] since he was about a hundred years old, and [he considered] the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 But he did not doubt or waver in unbelief concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and empowered by faith, giving glory to God, 21 being fully convinced that God had the power to do what He had promised. 22 Therefore his faith was credited to him as righteousness (right standing with God). 23 Now not for his sake alone was it written that it was credited to him, 24 but for OUR SAKE also—to whom righteousness will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead— 25 who was betrayed and crucified because of our sins, and was raised [from the dead] because of our justification [our acquittal—absolving us of all sin before God].}
Look I'm no scholar, but if I'm not mistaken, many nations = many races = many different skin colors?!?! Just guessing, could be wrong :(
Now for those who are truly in love (#truelove) with Jesus, obey Him. The last covenant established, is the blood covenant shed on the cross. Jesus acknowledges the commandment love God with all your mind, soul and strength and love your neighbour as yourself, but then He adds a new commandment in John 13,
{34 I am giving you a new commandment, that you [f]love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”}
If you read the gospels, nowhere does Jesus talk about black or white. When Abraham was mentioned in Matthew 3, John the Baptist said that
{9 and do not presume to say to yourselves [as a defense], ‘We have Abraham for our father [so our inheritance assures us of salvation]’; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children (descendants) for Abraham.
When Jesus mentions Abraham in John 8, here is what He says,
{56 Your father Abraham was very happy that he would see the day when I came. He saw that day and was happy.”
57 The Jews said to Jesus, “What? How can you say you have seen Abraham? You are not even 50 years old!”
58 Jesus answered, “The fact is, before Abraham was born, I Am.” 59 When he said this, they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus hid, and then he left the Temple area.}
Ok so far, no talk of color!
As far as I am concerned, we are now at the end of the bible and Jesus is awaiting His Bride from every nation and tongue. It is a time for HIS glorification, the time of Abraham has passed and the time for the preparation of the arrival of the King is at hand. The plan of God was that through His people (Old Testament Israel - that the nations of the earth would be drawn unto Him because of the Holiness they exemplified. That Holiness was given through the law)
NOW... guess what!?!? His plan has not changed!! His people (New Testament Believers - that the nations of the earth would be drawn unto Him because of the Holiness we exemplify. This Holiness is Christ in US) (#bride #christ #holiness #glory #shekinahglory)
Either way what matters most to me is what God thinks about all this, so, I asked Him. I also let Him know that when I hear these type of topics, they really get me uneasy and many times frustrated and upset, I have to say, spiritually unsettled. Here is what I believe that the Holy Spirit said in response to my cry for understanding. (Everything in brackets is the Holy Spirit speaking to me)
[ Yolande, the reason this topic is unsettling, is because it questions your identity. It makes you look to the carnal world to determine who you really are. It steers you aways from the truth which is 'you are my daughter, a royal priesthood set in stone for my holy purpose'. Finding a skin color that truly links a people to Abraham would cause people to brag and boast in a purpose that has no meaning. Why tread water in a lake? Why tire yourself to produce no fruit? If you are to boast, boast in Christ alone and let your 'yes' be 'yes' and your 'no' be 'no'. You are called to run this race with blinders on, not looking to the right nor to the left. Race is irrelevant to me, therefore color means less to me than the devil himself. I am the author of color and the very Being of Light. The fullness of Light dwells in me, therefore I love the darkest to the lightest of shades. Every shade of man was birthed through Adam & Eve for THEY were made in the IMAGE AND LIKENESS of US!
It seems that My people still do not value or understand what was really done on that cross and what this New Wine is all about. They keep holding on to Abraham, when Abraham himself held onto Me only. Abraham looked ahead, these people look behind and revel in mysteries, that are no mysteries at all. They are just winded dreams and foundations built on ruble.
Blessed is the one that looks to Me Only. Blessed is the one who trusts in Me alone. Blessed is the one who has not waivered in faith because of my name's sake! My anger burns to those who treat with contempt what was done for them. Those who do not take the time and diligence and care to adequately seek My heart out on a matter. I will cast into the fire every work not done in HONOR and REVERENCE unto My name. Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who Was and Is and Is to Come and Blessed and Highly Favored is the One who waits patiently for my return.]
Ok well, I don't feel led to add to that other than when receiving teaching, don't take everything at face value. One needs to take the time to get to know the people they allow to speak into their lives. Not that people are trying to be purposefully mislead you, but we do make mistakes. In this case or as far as the topic of skin color goes, I believe, one must understand 'MOTIVE'. Because we all know that GOD IS LOVE and that the TRUTH ABOUT LOVE is that it has NO SKIN COLOR BOUNDARIES. (#lovehasnoboundaries #realmotive)
